Are you a fiction writer? Have you written a novel you want to release into the world? Let me help you shape and polish your story into the best book it can be. Check out the services I offer and let me know what you and your book are looking for!

I received a creative writing minor from Carnegie Mellon in 2015 and graduated from Harvard Law School in 2019 (but no, I will not give you legal advice). I’ve been freelancing as a proofreader and line editor since 2008, and have been a developmental editor since 2014. I have experience with thrillers and science fiction, but fantasy was my first love, and I have a good handle on the conventions of most genres you can throw at me, including romance, suspense, mystery, young adult, middle grade, dystopian, and others. My developmental edits and manuscript assessments focus not only on plot and character, but also the intricacies of voice, world building, pacing, point of view, style, and more.

My novel Go won second place in its category in the Zebulon Contest by Pikes Peak Writers in 2015. I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, and you can see my directory page here. I’ve also interned for several members of Congress, so I can help you with the realism of that political thriller you’ve secretly been working on. In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m a big fan of the Oxford comma.

Most importantly, I have a great eye for story, and I’m at my happiest helping you, the author, have that big plot or character breakthrough you’ve been waiting for.

Developmental editing is ideal for a completed manuscript. You need someone to dig in deep to improve your story. In a developmental edit, I’ll use Track Changes to keep notes and questions on the entire manuscript. I’ll focus on plot, structure, characterization, pacing, dialogue, style consistency, and continuity. In addition to my notes in your manuscript itself, I’ll write you an editorial letter of my high-level comments and suggestions. This is the best option for comprehensive feedback on your overall story.

If you’re looking for help with the nuts and bolts of your writing, but not your story, a detailed line edit will get you there. In this option, I’ll pay attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and word choice to clarify and tighten your writing. I won’t write an editorial letter, but I will use Track Changes to mark my edits throughout your manuscript.

Interested in feedback on your overall manuscript but not looking for the detail of a developmental edit? Here, I’ll read your full (or partial) manuscript and I’ll give you suggestions and comments. I’ll also list the strengths and weaknesses of your piece.
