By the time I post this, it will be January 2 (though it’s not yet), but here’s my new year’s post. 2012 has been a little bit crazy, huh? But now that we’re past that silly Mayan apocalypse and thinking we may yet see a few more December 31sts, here’s to the New Year!
I have a lot of things for my 101 things list that I’m planning on doing this year. For example, all of my 1-year things started today. These include:
- Writing at least one blog post per week
- Writing at least one poem per week
- Submitting writing to at least one publication/contest/etc. per week
- Uploading a photo every day for a 365-day photo challenge
So I uploaded the first of my photos today, and I’m writing a blog post, though I’m hoping to churn out a political blog post or two before the week is out. But this year, and this month, have lots of other things in store. I’m spending January basically trying to eat as clean as possible, allowing for when other people cook and when it’s not feasible. This is my substitution for eating paleo for a month, which I realized just really isn’t going to work. My focus this month is fitness/health, so I’m doing a new workout series called Power 90 in my effort to approach my goal weight and get ready to take the Insanity challenge, both items on my list. I’m also going to try to learn to cartwheel, take a ballroom dancing class, try Zumba, and work on a few other things on my list.
Also, updates on what I’ve been doing! I watched two Best Picture movies the other night, The King’s Speech and The Artist, both of which were phenomenal. I finished Blue Like Jazz, which I loved and highly recommend. This is my third week of blogging every week for a year.
2012 was a mixed bag of a year. It had its ups and downs, but it’s nice to know that I’ve grown through it. I’ve experienced some amazing things and become friends with some amazing people. I’m so excited to see what God has in store for me in 2013. Let’s do it!
